COVID: India reports 38,164 new cases in the last 24 hours, over 40 cr vaccinated

New Delhi: India reported a single-day rise of 38,164 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the case load in the country to over 3 crores. As many as 499 people succumbed to the infection, taking the death count to over 4 lakhs, the lowest in over three months. Of the 499 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 180 were from Maharashtra and 81 were from Kerala. 995 recovered from the virus leaving the active cases to over 4 lakhs. The recovery rate stands at 97.32 per cent. The positivity rate stands at 2.61 per cent and has been less than three per cent for 28 consecutive days. The case fatality rate stands at 1.33 per cent. As many as 14 lakh tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far to over 44 crores.
